It is fast approaching the new academic year and we would like to show you the benefits of the 11-16 MegaTravel Passes and 16-18 Student Passes to parents and students.
These free passes entitle school and college students under the age of 18, who reside in South Yorkshire to travel for a child concessionary fare (currently 70p per journey, increasing to 80p from 18 September) on bus and tram, and half fare on Northern Rail train services in South Yorkshire.
Pass holders are also eligible to purchase a range of value-for-money child and student tickets from bus and tram operators, including prepaid weekly tickets offering unlimited travel across South Yorkshire from as little as 72p per day.
11-16 MegaTravel Passes are available to students under the age of 16
16-18 Travel Passes are available to students under the age of 18 who are registered in full time education. A unique code will be provided to new students applying for the first time upon enrolment at school, college or training to complete their application.
How to apply
The quickest way to apply for an 11-16 MegaTravel Pass or a 16-18 Student Pass is online by using a MyTSY account. Full details can be found on the Travel South Yorkshire website
Passes will be processed within 7 working days.
The 16-18 Student Pass application process at 11 participating schools/colleges has been simplified for returning students. To date we have successfully processed approximately 4,500 passes for students, who will be studying for their second year, at any of these institutions and their new passes are ready for collection on their return to education next month. We are also piloting a secure data transfer process with Sheffield College for first year students, meaning that these students will not need to apply for a 16-18 Student Pass themselves. These passes will be sent directly to the students. Taking into account both of these initiatives, we anticipate issuing a total of approximately 6000 passes automatically.

- by posting a completed application form to: Contact Centre, SYPTE, 11 Broad Street West, Sheffield S1 2BQ, or via a drop-box at any Interchange Customer Service Desk.
Paper application forms are available from Interchange Customer Service Desks. Phone and paper applications will be processed within 21 working days. Passes will be posted to the customer’s home address which must be within South Yorkshire.
